June 1 marks the day of the first of the ten-part series for my Everything 10 Countdown. As I have uttered in my introductory entry yesterday, each day for ten days, I will be disclosing 10 truths about myself, hyping this ten-day countdown. Today, I’m going to tell you ten things or people that instantly make me happy in such unique ways. Here goes…
10 Shoes and Headbands
A lot of my friends know that I really am into shoes. Entering a shoe store with all my adored styles and colors has always been a paradise for me. If I had the time, I would browse through websites of my favorite shoe shops and check what’s new in their racks. My shoes always pull off my wardrobe. They’re my beautifiers and even my best friends in fashion.
Headbands are also my treasures. And wait, I do not keep just headbands. I use those with statements (yeah, those attention getters). It’s not that I seek to be eye-catchy but my headbands are reminders to me about the idea of standing out. Not in a way that aims to be popular but in a way that in whatever situation, I should strive for excellence, I should stay determined and rise as high as I can get. Besides, they match perfectly with my clothes and I have quite a collection of them. 🙂
9 Smiling, Giggling, Laughing Babies
The innocence of kids, although can get very annoying at certain points, are a lot amusing most of the time. I’m a person who loves smiles and loves waking up each day and choose to be joyful in whatever situation. Babies/kids on the other hand do not have much of an understanding of circumstances. This why it’s very lovely for me to watch babies smile or laugh or burst into adorable giggly sounds – their innocent of their surroundings which makes them no matter what happy human beings. They lighten up in seeing things that make them smile and they just wanna do what would make them happy. It’s wonderful!
And did I mention, babies are Überly cute! 😀
8 My favorite cartoons
Most of the people who know me are aware that I still am a cartoon fanatic – no, not animes or those with battles or action and stuff , but cartoons – cute drawings, funny stories, things that would make little kids cry out of laughter. Yup, that kind of cartoons. Before it used to be my escape to stress but it’s become a very vital part of my TV life until today. I watch my favorite cartoons and I become even more alive and happy. 🙂
I love dogs! All throughout my childhood, we’ve taken care of pet dogs. But since our last dog, “Blessing” died, we never had another one after. My little brother’s asthmatic condition even stopped me from insisting to have a pet dog in the house because he easily becomes allergic to fur. However, my love for dogs never lessened. I still love to see dogs in photos or in real life. I have fun trying to make paamo the dogs when they bark without ceasing because they do not know a new visitor (I have succeeded a lot of times, you should know). I love taking pictures with them even if their fur suddenly brushes my face; I’m really cool with that!
It’s a good thing that my dad has a pet retriever in their place. Whenever I come visit, I make sure I spend time playing with the dog and it would make me feel really, really happy… and tingly!
6 Mushy Messages
I’m single, but believe me, there is no one (let me say the word) I flirt with at all and receive ‘mushy’ messages at all. No – not that kind of mushy. My type of mushy are those sweet nothings from my family are friends or disciples or co-workers where they tell me they miss or love me; where they remind me to be happy at all times; where they encourage me into something I really am aiming to do or achieve; and, all that jazz! That kind of mushy. Being surrounded with lovely people who genuinely care for you are precious overflows of God’s love to us. It is a great joy to have them. 🙂
5 The Color Yellow and the Number TEN
These two are my favorite color and number. Yellow for me symbolizes brightness and (yet again) standing out. When we see a bright yellow, our eyes can’t help but look at even if it’s strong brightness can hurt us back (like the sun, for example). I’ve always loved the color yellow because of this idea which is one thing I would always want to do/be – to stand out — to be bright — to be someone who lightens up a place where there is darkness.
The number ten, on the other hand, is a number from a very important date in my life.
4 McDonald’s dates with very close friends
I always have fun with my friends whom I eat at McDo with. And most often than not, a McDo date is something that I do spare and spend time for. I eat at standby there oftentimes with two of my closest guy friends and this McDo date will always be a very fun yet meaty and witty conversation at the same time. A McDo date to me is synonymous to catching up or sharing of very remarkable events, or glorifying God through a fellowship with a Christian brother or sister. I have always enjoyed eating at McDonald’s most especially because of the people I come with there.
3 My brothers and sisters at church
I do not how or why but seeing my fellow co-workers at church gives me a boost all the time. When I talk to them, whatever I’m going through, however exhausted my body is, I would just lighten up and become instantly refreshed. Probably it’s the “magical” feeling of being surrounded with so much love and people who loves God so much that you’re overtaken by the beauty of it.
I am especially enlightened when I see my disciples… my 12. They are the people that God had me care for. And whenever I see them, all I can think of and feel is my deepest love for them – like they’re my own children. It makes me glad to be sharing the rest of my life caring for these girls.
2 Family get-togethers
Nothing (next to quiet times with God) beats the wonderful times during family get-togethers for me. They are those times when you spend time with people who are part of your system, connected to you like a branch that is very hard to pull off. My heart overflows with gladness when I laugh with them, sing with them, share stories with them and just do anything with them. The moments with our dearly loved are treasures. It can never be replaced with any kind of tangible thing in this world. Really.
1 My Bible and Journal
Of course, the ultimate source of joy is God. And there is no greater feeling than being soaked in His Presence, having quality time with the Father with just a bible, pen and journal, and a heart that’s truly open to be filled with His Spirit. I had very many amazing times with God by just reading what He has to say to me daily in the Bible. I had very numerous remarkable memories by jutting down each day about what God has been doing in my life and what He continues to teach me. Those fantastic times with just my bible and journal are irreplaceable. A big portion of who I am right now and who I will be in the next few seasons of my life had been and will be because of the help of my bible and journal. When I view back and browse the old ‘volumes’ of my life (my old journals), I can look up and thank God once again if being continuously at work in my life. And I should say that my happiest times – genuinely happiest times – are those that I am with these two important things.
So there you have it! Now, you know ten important truths about my life. Stay viewed for the next ten things I have to share with you in view of my countdown!
