A recent quote from my favorite author inspired me to honor at least one person a day and witness the honor be returned to you double-fold. Hence, I will be making a blog post each day until the end of December honoring one friend/family member/inspiration per day.
This friend I call “Sheksi Star” – most of her friends would call her Shek while her phone name where I work is “Sheryl.” She is bubbly, blunt, sometimes impulsive but most often than not a good listener. I’ve known her for almost a year and a half now and I am thankful that our friendship – no – SISTERHOOD – is as solid as it has ever been, or even greater.
Starting off with our friendship, you would usually encounter us exchanging stories and brutal words that may sometimes not be pleasing to the ears, but sure as hell need to learn and grow from.
Shek is a wonderful person. She is full of love and tenderness though it may not always come across as she’s also a tough one at the same time. I am inspired by her unconditional love for family and lover and I actually sometimes find myself wanting to have those same traits when it’s my time to shine.
I have always told Shek to “Fight the good fight of faith.” Sometimes I know she thinks the good and favourable life is looking bleak but I believe she’s understand the concept of not giving in without putting up a good fight. All the more she grew well in making tougher and tougher decisions that she proved worth the wait, the toil, the frustration, and definitely the hope.
Today, Shek is going to take an exam for a promotion. And whilst I understand she won’t be able to read this prior to her bloody test, I want her to know I am proud of her and that she’s got this. She owns the stage and she’ll soar to immense heights not only in her career but even in her personal endeavors. The only reason why is because the best is always what she deserves.
This 3rd day of December, I honor you, my sister, my friend, and my confidant. You inspire me in ways you never realize. 🙂
